Accused jewel thief behind bars

A SOUTH Australian man is behind bars charged with the 2015 daylight robbery of a Nambour jeweller.

Michael Robert Morgan, 40, has been charged with burglary, burglary by breaking, and joyriding.

Police allege at 3.30pm on March 26, 2015, Mr Morgan entered the Nambour Jewellers with a hammer. When staff backed away, he allegedly grabbed a quantity of jewellery and fled the scene.

Morgan was extradited from South Australia. He was remanded in custody and will reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court next month.
