POLICE have seized more illicit drugs and a number of vehicles on the second day of a major operation targeting the production and trafficking of Ice in south-west Queensland.

On Thursday morning officers from St George Police, with the help of State Drug Squad and Brisbane and Toowoomba dog squads executed an additional 17 search warrants at properties in St George, Surat and Dirranbandi.

St George Detective Sergeant Isa Tolete said 14 people were arrested and charged with more than 43 charges including one person with trafficking, five people with supply, and a number of possession related offences.

This comes after 25 people were arrested and charged with more than 170 drug-related offences throughout St George, Surat, Dirranbandi and Roma on Wednesday morning.

"Over two days we've had more than 40 people charged with supplying dangerous drugs, as well as eight people charged with trafficking dangerous drugs,” Det Sgt Tolete said.

"A total of 196 charges have been made so far.

"If you come into our small town to use or sell drugs, it will not be tolerated. You will be found out through the vigilance of the community and you will be arrested and dealt with according to the law.”

Det Sgt Tolete said the alleged offenders would be referred to several agencies for rehabilitation and counselling as well as engagement with St George's two police liaison officers.

"We will engage with all stakeholders throughout the community such as Lifeline, Child Safety, and South West Health, to conduct a presentation next month that will be spearheaded by the St George detectives,” he said.

"This will be part of an ongoing support and assistance program that will be provided right through to the end of the court process.”

The alleged offenders are expected to appear in the Roma, St George and Dalby Magistrates courts over the coming months.

Operation Oscar Kohl was established in August 2016 to target those involved in the production and trafficking of Ice in St George and nearby areas.

Investigations are continuing and will be ongoing with a number of further arrests expected to follow in the coming weeks.
