Australian league legends to play in Cherbourg

RUGBY LEAGUE: The legends of Australian rugby league will be coming to Cherbourg in 2019.

Cherbourg Hornets will host a Legends of League game on February 9 with former Australian rugby league greats to play a Cherbourg over-35 team.

President of the Hornets Errol Simpson said the town was excited to welcome legends of the game and see how their local players matched up.

"We are hoping to attract some of our old players back to have a run and it will be good to see them come back and have a game," he said.

As well as the legends game the club will host a women's and A-grade game on the day.

In the lead-up to the game the legends will immerse themselves in the community.

"It is planned that the legends will visit a number of schools while they are here and they will be here," Collins said.

"That will be good because these guys will be talking about things like bullying, mental health and telling their life story and how they cope with the big time and the pressures that come with that."
