Big plans to be rolled out for the region

FEDERAL member for Flynn Ken O'Dowd has welcomed news that more than four million Australian homes and businesses are now able to order a service over the National Broadband Network.

According to a media release from Mr O'Dowd, at the beginning of January, 70% of regional premises were either ready for service or under construction.

Across Flynn, 36,479 homes and businesses are ready to receive a service, with 9288 already connected.

Within the North Burnett region, fixed line services in Monto are expected to start construction in April next year.

According to NBN Co, Mundubbera is expected to be serviced by a combination of fixed line, fixed wireless and satellite services.

Those services are due to start becoming available in the first half of this year.

About 570 premises will be serviced by fixed line, with another 155 on fixed wireless.

A further 785 premises in Gayndah will receive fixed line technology, and like other towns, the work is expected to start in the first half of the year.
