The $29 buy shoppers say looks like it's worth hundreds

WHEN it comes to homewares, no one likes a bargain more than Australian shoppers.

From Kmart to Aldi and even The Reject Shop, cheap throws, cushions, stools and even side tables continue to send savvy shoppers in to moment of madness.

In the past year, Kmart has whipped shoppers into a frenzy with its $35 Scandinavian-inspired shoe rack and $29 marble-look side table. Aldi followed suit - rolling out a rocking chair through its Special Buys range which sent mothers mental just to get their hands on one.

But could this simple coffee table be the next game changer?

As part of its latest campaign to promote the winter homewares range, Big W has rolled out a $29 Scandi-style coffee table, which looks remarkably similar to several designer equivalents currently on the market.

With its simple design and white wash timber, the scandi inspired design is affordable and sturdy, while still being on trend, according to head of Big W home universe Christine Faulkner.

So can you spot the difference?

The Scandi trend feels like it's had a very long run - but with a matching side table ($19) and console ($39) it's no wonder the retailer anticipates the range (which launches in store today) to be one of their biggest winter sellers of their catalogue.

Taking to social media, savvy shoppers complimented the "simple and classic" design.

"Simple, classic, beautiful and affordable! Winning!!" one person wrote of the table.

"Oh oh...get ready for a new house redo!," another added.

But that's not where the bargains end. Here's some of our favourites from the range, and how they compare in cost to designer alternatives on the market.

KNOT CUSHIONS

The popular knot cushions proved to be one of Big W's most sought-after items when launched last year - a trend that will continue in 2018 according to Ms Faulkner.

For summer, a new range of colours will be on the shelves - and for just $15, the cushions provide a decent saving compared to their designer equivalent. A similar cushion from Design Stuff costs almost $200. But if you are keen on grabbing a cheaper version now, Kmart have a similar design for just $8.

JUTE CUSHIONS

Coming in a stack of colours - and for just $10, these cute jute cushions will save you a bundle when compared to others on the market.

POM POM CUSHIONS

Nothing screams winter like curling up the couch with a throw to keep you warm. Problem is, they can hit you pretty hard at the checkout - especially when it comes to woollen products.

This decorative throw - despite being polyester (shudder) - will set you back just $19, and looks pretty similar to the $65 option from Temple and Webster.

ROUND JUTE RUG:

Like Scandi-style furniture, jute rugs have had a long run in popularity. The problem with rug trends is that they're often pretty expensive to swap around from season to season.

But the round jute rug (the all-natural vestiges of '60s living room design) is relatively affordable and generally compliment a range of decor around the home.

But with so many retailers stocking the style, it pays to shop around, because we are struggling to find the difference between these two!
