Blues powerhouse Fifita named man of the match
NSW Blues prop Andrew Fifita has won the man-of-the-match award in Game I of the State of Origin after a dominant display from the Sharks behemoth.
Fifita scored a second-half try, set up James Maloney to score the opening try of the match and was a constant handful for the Maroons defense all night.
The Cronulla star made 153 metres from 14 runs and seven tackle busts, plus 19 tackles.
Fifita has had a chequered representative career of late, missing the Four Nations tour to the United Kingdom late last year over his support for the one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge.
But he demonstrated what a force he can be at Origin level after clearly winning his front-rowers' battle with Nate Myles and Dylan Napa.
