Buddy bench big at Monto State School
CONTINUING our rolling coverage of all the school captains in the North Burnett for 2019, we ask Monto State School's captains what they hope to achieve this year.
What changes would you like to help introduce to your school this year?
Ainsley Zieth (school captain): Ensuring our new buddy chair gets used and students are able to find friends or others to play with when they use the buddy chair.
Hugh Robertson (school captain): More activities for students to play at lunch time.
Grace Ogle (sports captain): More organised sport activities for lunch times.
Travis Bleakley (sports captain): Have class versus class in a sports tournament.
Mia Lazarus (sports captain): Extra play areas for Year 6 students because they are older and can be trusted.
Joel Stark (sports captain): I would like to put in some soccer lines on the soccer fields.
Lilly McLaughlin (well-being captain): Making sure students know how to use the buddy bench and feel safe to use it.
Jackson Pailthorpe (well-being captain): Help students who are on the buddy bench find friends to play with.
Riley Miller (green thumb captain): It is important to make friends with everyone.
Bayley Allwood (green thumb captain): Vegetables in our garden and more herbs in our herb garden.
Kolter Hutton (fundraising captain): More fundraising events for charities.
Rihanna Dent (coding club captain): Having a lunch time coding club for the younger students.
What do you want to do when you're older?
Hugh: Soccer player.
Mia: Travel the world.
Joel: Do something which involves sport.
Riley: Work on a farm.
Bayley: Fixing vehicles.
Kolter: Something to do with movie making like a CGI animator.
Rihanna: Vet or something to do with helping people.
Tell us about your favourite school event.
Ainsley: Swimming carnival because you can challenge yourself and race with people. Everyone cheers for everyone else and has lots of fun.
Hugh: Colour Fun Run because it's lots of fun getting colour all over you and it raises money for the school.
Grace: Camp because we learn things about other places and spend time with our friends.
Travis: Camp because you get to do lots of activities with your friends and you can make lots of noise, not like in class.
Mia: Athletics carnival because it is fun.
Joel: Cross country. It is fun and I like to run.
Lilly: School camp because you get to know the students in your class better and its always fun.
Jackson: Athletics day because there are lots of different events and it is fun.
Riley: Disco, you get to hang out with all of your friends outside school.
Bayley: Inter school athletics, because you can compete with other schools and all the Monto State School students cheer for each other.
Kolter: Colour Fun Run because its lots of fun and it raises money for the school.
Rihanna: Colour Fun Run, because we get really wet and its always very colourful and we get ice-blocks at the end.
What sort of example do you want to set for the younger students?
Ainsley: You don't always have to play with your friends you can play with everyone in the school.
Hugh: A leader who looks out for the younger students and makes sure they are safe within our school.
Grace: I want to show others how they can act safely in our school.
Travis: I want the younger students to see me as one of their friends.
Mia: A person who is always happy at school and is helpful and I never give up.
Joel: A person who is sporty and always shows good sportsmanship.
Lilly: Always have a positive mindset. This helps you learn.
Jackson: It is important to make friends with everyone.
Riley: Safety on cement and to look after yourself.
Bayley: To be respectful to our school environment like our gardens.
Kolter: That the older students in our school are approachable.
Rihanna: Someone who follows our school rules because it keeps everyone safe and helps everyone learn.
