Burnett Hwy to receive $83,000 upgrade
THE Burnett Highway will receive an $83,500 upgrade courtesy of the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
Construction will take place this month on a pedestrian refuge at the intersection of Warton St, Meson St, and the Burnett Hwy in Gayndah.
The upgrade will replace the existing pedestrian facilities, which connect the eastern and western sides of the Gayndah CBD.
It will also provide a safe area in the middle of the roadway for pedestrians with prams or mobility issues.
The project is being funded under the Queensland Government’s Safer Roads Sooner program, as part of the Vulnerable Users sub-program.
North Burnett Regional Council will be undertaking the construction of the project, which is expected to take about four weeks to complete.
Single-lane closures, speed restrictions and traffic controllers will be in place as required.
