Bushfire breaks out along Kawana Way

FIREFIGHTERS are battling a grassfire burning at Meridan Plains.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services issued a warning to motorists at 4.45pm about the potential for smoke to affect Kawana Way, Kawana Way Link Rd and Woodlands Blvd.

The fire was burning within containment lines at Kawana Way when the alert was issued.

It was not posing a threat to property at the time.

Nearby residents are advised to close windows and doors and those suffering from a respiratory condition should keep their medications close by.

Anyone concerned their property is under threat should call 000 immediately
