Byrne new Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries

AFTER the recent resignation of Agricultural Minister Leanne Donaldson, Bill Byrne has been made the new Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.

Premier Annastacia Palaszcuk made the announcement on Friday with QFF president Stuart Armitage welcoming the reappointment of Minister Byrne.

"QFF look forward continuing its constructive relationship with the Palaszcuk government through Minister Byrne,” Mr Armitage said.

"Agriculture is regional and rural Queensland's mainstay employer and importantly, it is a growing sector during the resources downturn.

"Growing Queensland's $17 billion plus agricultural sector depends on the right government support and policy settings, and we look forward to working with Minister Byrne to realise this.”

The reappointment comes after Ms Donaldson resigned from cabinet when it was revealed she had not paid almost $8000 in rates for three years.
