Cadets get down and dirty for clean up

BIGGENDEN PCYC ES cadets undertook a clean up along the track and around the rock pools at Waterfall Creek, Utopia as part of weekly training night last night.

Co-ordinator Moira Thompson said they were an enthusiastic group.

"There was almost a race to see who could dive into the bush the quickest to pick up the next can or bottle,” she said.

The group collected one big bag of glass, tin cans, plastic and only one sanitary item; no nappies.

Mrs Thompson said it was so different from other days the group had been there cleaning up.

"Everyone did a great job,” she said.

"With the extra publicity about the rock pools the area has become popular for weekend visitors.”

Mt Walsh National Park now has a Park Alert and is closed due to high risk of wildfires.

This includes rock pools at Utopia.
