Campaign launched for family struck by double tragedy

A GOFUNDME fundraising page has been launched for the family affected by a fatal crash near Murgon on Tuesday.

Two members of the family died in the crash and one remains in hospital, fighting for her life.

Fiona Wagstaff from Cobbs Hill launched the page.

"This beautiful family needs our support to ease the added pain and burden of travel costs to and from the hospital," Ms Wagstaff wrote.

"For mum Chloe to shed some light to give her cherished partner and son a beautiful funeral, all the touches a mother deserves to give her child and life partner."

Ms Wagstaff said the family was in mourning and shock.

"(They're) trying desperately to make sense of this soul shattering tragedy," Ms Wagstaff wrote on the page.

"A fatal car accident on (January 2) instantly took from them a wonderful caring man and stepfather Josh and much loved adored seven-year-old son, brother and grandson Linkin.

"Linkin's sister, beautiful six-year-old Marly was flown from Murgon to Brisbane with life threatening injuries and is currently in ICU in an induced coma."

According to the Queensland Police the crash occurred at about 5pm on January 2.

"Police and emergency crews responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash involving a prime mover towing a tri-axle trailer and a dual cab Nissan Navara utility on the Bunya Highway near the Kilcoy Murgon Road intersection," a police spokesperson said.

"Initial investigations indicate the prime mover was travelling east and the ute west when the crash occurred."

Ms Wagstaff said 14-month-old Sienna, who was also in the car, was not seriously injured in the crash.

"I know this humble family would never ask and yet will be forever grateful," she said.

"All donations will go directly to the family account.

"Thank you from my heart to yours."

The GoFundMe has so far raised more than $1000, with a goal of $20,000.
