Celebrations honour Queen Maggie Hart

THE Wakka Wakka people will come together to celebrate a decade of Wakka Wakka community and culture on April 20.

More than 100 people are expected to take part in the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Queen Maggie Hart.

Natalie Chapman will take part in the celebration and is looking forward to seeing everyone come together to celebrate the day.

"She is a very significant woman in regards to cultural heritage,” Ms Chapman said.

"It is significant to the people of the Wakka Wakka and it is great to honour such a remarkable person in the community.”

Ms Chapman expects people will come from all over to back home to celebrate the Queen of the Wakka Wakka and be part of the anniversary.

The celebration will start with a cultural heritage ceremony and will also involve a ceremony at the grave side of the Queen of the Wakka Wakka at Pearlinga before the celebration continues in Eidsvold.

There will be something for people of all ages with food and drinks on offer and celebrations for the children.
