City meets country in golf
THE grandson of RM Williams brought 18 golfers up to Mundubbera with him from Brisbane on Saturday for the fifth annual Burnett cup.
Mundubbera Golf Club captain Peter Hunsley said 31 players competed in the city versus country competition.
"It was something Dan Williams, one of the city players and Ian and Daphne Williams' son, organised," Mr Hunsely said.
"He wanted to get some of his friends to come up once a year, as an excuse for the golf club to raise money."
The country team won.
Hunsley said Williams, who is the grandson of RM Williams, donated some of the money raised to charities and local organisations around Mundubbera.
"I think they've given quite a bit to the area over the years; you wouldn't get a nicer family or a more generous family," Hunsley said.
"A few of the (city players) stayed back and played in (the Monthly Medal) competition on Sunday as well."
Kerrry Beutel won the competition with 71/64, he also won the A-grade medal.
Col Cluff won the B-grade medal and Dan Williams won the C-grade.
The ball winners were Col Cluff, Stephen Zipf, Graham Lohse and Dan Williams.
Pin shots went to Peter Hunsley on 4, and Rob Yarrow on 9.
Graham Lohse won the putting Competition.
The Ladies winner and the winner of the 2nd Grade Monthly was Jenny Lohse with 89/66.
Robyn Maeyke won the 1st Grade Medal and was runner-up with 94/72.
