"CLOSING down" signs in the windows of Wayne's World Mundubbera and Gayndah should really read "new beginnings".

Mundubbera shop manager Karen Ellis said it would be a positive for the towns when the shops reopened.

"I am so excited about the closing down sale and the removal of all the old stock," she said.

"The town will benefit from a whole new range of goodies when the new owners take over."

Wayne's World opened in Mundubbera in 2007 and is changing ownership to an unknown buyer.

The Mundubbera store's original manager, Michelle Crofts, said it was exciting to work in the shop when it was new.

"I have fond memories of when the shop first opened. It was a new experience for Mundubbera shoppers," she said.

"The shop has been getting tired with the same things all the time."

Gayndah store manager Mona Neylon said the Gayndah staff members would all retain their jobs.

"We were given very little notice about the changes, as we were told on July 28," she said.

"We are really excited about the new shop with new stock, especially the giftware."

Managers of both stores have been told they will be able to order the stock that is appropriate for the shop, whereas before it was just whatever was available.
