Council says roads a priority

NORTH Burnett Regional Council Mayor Rachel Chambers has promised that North Burnett roads would gradually improve.

"It will get better,” Cr Chambers said.

"There is no doubt it is getting better already.

"Roads are always a priority for council and every day we work towards a better roads program and better outcomes.”

North Burnett residents took to Facebook to say what roads in the region they wanted upgrading.

They included roads such as Warton St, Boondooma Rd and Monogorilby Rd.

Cr Chambers said she would like to see a standardised approach to roads in the region.

"One person's high level of need is another person's low level of need,” she said.

"That is why we want a definite standard we can all agree on.”

To achieve that standard, Cr Chambers said she had been in discussion with Gladstone Regional Council about a roads publication it has.

The publication outlines the different levels of road conditions and provides examples of what is a good road and what is a bad road.

"We want the community to help us by knowing what is a defect and what isn't,” Cr Chambers said.

"We want them to know what needs to be acted on immediately and what they can expect from us.

"That is all the things we are working towards,” she said.
