Cowboys round up beasts in campdraft

CAMPDRAFT: Competitors from across the North Burnett competed in the annual Mundubbera Golden Stirrup Campdraft with attendance at record high.

A representative said it was incredible to see the whole community turn out and support the event, with camper vans filling the showground.

"The locals and competitors socialised freely under a star lit sky following an action packed Saturday and Sunday,” the representative said.

"Saturday evening epitomised a truly social gathering where riders and townsfolk created a convivial atmosphere.”

Onlookers watched the completion of the maiden, restricted open and first round of the open took place on Saturday.

The evening entertainment of mutton busting, steer riding, calcutta, competitors and raffle draws and music followed the action packed day.

Keen competitors were up early again Sunday to watch and compete in the novice, juvenile, junior cattle working and the open final.

"The grounds looked superb following recent rain and with all the competitors parked up in their rigs with their horses yarded, the grounds were a sight to be seen,” the representative said.

"Committee members joined forces with local volunteers and visiting competitors to assist in running this successful event with over 750 rounds completed over the weekend.

"The committee appreciates and sends out a huge thank you to all competitors, judges, cattle donors, sponsors, volunteers, both young and old and all the locals who turned out in force to help run the weekend.”
