Diamonds know they must lift game against New Zealand

NETBALL: Australia's Diamonds say they must improve their performance when they play arch-rival New Zealand in the Netball Quad Series.

The world champions thrashed England 66-46 in Adelaide on Wednesday night, with Caitlin Bassett in wonderful form.

The 193cm shooter scored with 46 of her 51 shots, three points shy of her career-best figures.

The Diamonds line up against the Kiwis in Melbourne on Sunday after the world No.2 cruised to a 65-46 win over South Africa on Wednesday.

Diamonds captain Claire McMeniman said the Silver Ferns would be turning on the defensive pressure.

"They're an incredibly tough opposition,” McMeniman said. "We respect them greatly but we know that we've got things that we need to focus on from our perspective.”
