Director sacked from Queen biopic after clashes

DIRECTOR Bryan Singer has been sacked from the upcoming Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Twentieth Century Fox has confirmed the director was fired after failing to show up to work for several days last week.

The movie, which tells the tale of Queen from their formation in the 1970s through to their Live Aid performance in 1985, is currently being filmed in London.

A representative for Singer blamed the X-Men director's absence on "a personal health matter" and a source told The Hollywood Reporter that Singer has claimed he's battling post-traumatic stress disorder.

When Singer was on set, he reportedly clashed with Rami Malek who is playing Freddie Mercury in the movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Malek complained to the studio about Singer's unprofessionalism and the two ended up in a fight during which the director threw an object.

It's not yet known if Singer's sacking will push back the release of the film which is slated for December 2018.

Rami Malek, 36, told Entertainment Weekly in September that he'll be doing some of the singing in Bohemian Rhapsody and they'll also use recordings of Freddie Mercury and a soundalike.

"We're going to use Freddie as much as possible and use myself as much as possible," the Egyptian-American actor said.
