Dozens injured in Jakarta Stock Exchange floor collapse

A FLOOR has collapsed at the Jakarta Stock Exchange in Indonesia, causing multiple injuries.

Police have yet to confirm casualties.

The floor collapsed into the ground level of Tower 2, spokesman Rheza Andhika told Bloomberg, adding that it wasn’t an explosion.

Footage aired on local television MetroTV showed several people lying on the ground at the entrance of the building.

Dozens of people have been seen running from the building. The incident happened during the market’s midday break. On an ordinary day the market would reopen at 1.30pm local time (5.30pm AEDT).

Images circulated on social media showed a mangled metal structure that had collapsed around a Starbucks cafe near the entrance to the multi-storey building.

Metro TV images showed some people sitting on the steps outside the building. Jakarta police said they were seeking more information on the incident.
