Dugan to have surgery on broken jaw

BLUES centre and Dragons star Josh Dugan’s season is now in jeopardy after suffering a broken jaw from his Maroons opposite Greg Inglis in Origin III.

It appears the best the 26-year-old can expect is a return for the last round of NRL action and to contest the finals series.

But St George Illawarra, which plays the Titans at Jubilee Oval tomorrow night, is only just hanging on to eighth place on the ladder

Dugan remained upbeat despite the setback, tweeting: “Scans showed a broken jaw, surgery to put a plate in tomorrow! Will be doing everything I can to get back ASAP for the dragons.”

The Dragons will also miss Benji Marshall for the clash with the ninth-placed Titans due to a hamstring injury.

Marshall was set to play his 250th NRL game, but will now look to celebrate the milestone against his former club Wests Tigers the following Sunday.

“It is no secret that this would have been his 250th first grade game but the important thing now is that when he does return and reach this milestone he is playing at a hundred per cent,” Dragons physio Tony Ayoub said.
