LETTER: Educate the children we already have
IN THIS day and age, having children is a decision that man and wife make, or single women for that fact.
Contraception is controllable.
Shorten wants to give women a gift of some $12,000 to have children.
I'd rather spend that on education for children already born.
Wow. We will have a baby boom, won't we?
That's because if you are single and have a child, you can claim benefits via Centrelink for many years.
Parental payment leave was not available when I had both of my children. Although then accidental was my first child, I went back to work a month after she was born.
My second child was six weeks old.
I've given them both a good education, values I believe are good and neither has had any legal action against them.
I don't always agree, as a grandmother, as to some of the more easy lifestyle choices they instil in their children.
But I have volunteered at schools they attended to be part of the bigger picture.
Education and Health Services are needed for those already born.
Maybe I'm right and maybe I'm wrong.
