Farmer helps crews fight fire

FIRE crew are working to contain a fire that started on the edge of the road at Murgon-Gayndah Rd, Windera this afternoon.

Three crews are on scene, blacking out the edges of the fire, which is about 150 metres in length.

A QFES spokesman said a nearby landholder had done some work to fight the fire before crews arrived and took over.

A request to Ergon Energy has been lodged to inspect a power pole which may have been damaged.

Smoke may affect residents and motorists in the area.

Residents should close their doors and windows and keep medication close by if suffering from a respiratory condition.

Motorists should use caution and drive to conditions.
