Fearnley bows out of individual track events with a fifth

ATHLETICS: Five-time Australian Paralympic legend Kurt Fearnley has finished his last ever individual Paralympic track event with a fifth position in the T54 1500m.

"It sucks to finish that way but that's racing, it always has been,” he said.

"My first track event was a messy fourth place in the 1500m.

"You have so little control, at one moment you can be the best in the world, and the next you're not.”

Fearnley said he had loved every part of his career.

"Even your worst day on that track is still one of your best days,” he said.

Fearnley, who is at his fifth and final Paralympic Games, still has the marathon to come on the final day of competition.
