
FIRE WARNING: Residents to watch and act as fire burns
UPDATE 2.25PM: RESIDENTS are being warned to watch and act as a bushfire burning at Hawkwood could get worse.
The fast moving fire is travelling in a south easterly direction from Barbours Rdand New Cadarga Rd, Hawkwood, towards Monogorilby.
Fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property.
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service advises residents to be ready to follow their bushfire survival plan and if there is no plan in place to be ready to leave the area because the situation could get worse quickly.
EARLIER: RESIDENTS are warned to stay informed as a fire burns at Hawkwood south of Mundubbera.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Service spokeswoman said eight crews were on scene at the bushfire which was burning within containment lines near Barbours Rd and New Cadarga Rd.
The fire is travelling in an easterly direction towards Burrows Rd and crews have been working to contain it since 9.20am.
The spokeswoman said residents needed to keep up to date and decide what actions to take if the situation changes.
