'Fly high with angels': Messages of love for cancer battler

TRIBUTES are flowing for Layla Hooper who lost her battle with terminal ovarian cancer yesterday.

Ms Hooper fought stage-three ovarian cancer for five years, since she was diagnosed at just 17.

The Toowoomba woman was able to celebrate her 18th birthday cancer-free but tragically it returned shortly after.

Ms Hooper took oral tablets for two years which was shrinking the cancer but they too failed.

When she found out her illness was terminal earlier this year her family started a bucket list to give her something to look forward to.

First on her list was to go to a State of Origin game which she was able to do in June.

Ms Hooper lived out her last months trying to complete as many things on her bucket list as possible.

Through mycause.com.au people helped her achieve her dreams by donating funds.

About $8700 was raised for her but sadly, yesterday she passed away.

Tributes have been flowing on her Facebook page Layla's Dream with people remembering what a wonderful person she was.

Julie Eckhoff said: "This child was always special, I remember her beautiful smile from such a young age. My heart aches for you all. Know my prayers and thoughts are with you."

Karen Margaret said: "I am so sorry and sad to hear this dreadful news. My heart aches for you all. I am thinking of you with love and hugs."

Marion Mitchell said: "Thinking of you all. Rest in peace beautiful."

Neata Bear said: "Rest in paradise to the most beautiful lady I had the pleasure of knowing. I'm so glad I got to see you not long ago and had that one last cuddle."

Lee Porter said: "My heart goes out to you all. What a beautiful young girl taken way too soon. Fly high with angels."
