THIS week residents woke up to a foggy start in the North Burnett region and the fog is predicted to last until Friday.

Bureau of Meteorology meteorologist Julian De Morton said it was due to moisture in the air.

He said residents could expect some cooler nights ahead.

"As we saw a bit of rain last week, it's brought some moisture into the ground and that moisture in the lower level of the hemisphere and the cooler nights combined has meant fog being created,” Mr De Morton said.

"We should see the fog stay in the region until around Friday and hopefully clearing up before the weekend.”

Gayndah will likely bear the brunt of the cold, with a minimum temperature below 10 degrees.

"The cooler nights are on the way and we will see the Burnett region, in particular Gayndah and surrounding areas, reach below 10degrees on Thursday and Friday night,” Mr De Morton said.

"Maximum temperatures should stay around 25-26 degrees for the next week.

"Temperatures will be a lot cooler this week, with a bit of dry air coming through residents should start preparing for winter weather soon despite no frost being recorded.”

Showers may come our way at the weekend.

"Over the weekend there is a 30% possibility of some showers hitting the Burnett region,” Mr De Morton said.
