For Foxes’ sake, Ranieri aiming high

LEICESTER City boss Claudio Ranieri is hoping his team's early season EPL form is not a flash in the pan and wants to guide the Foxes to a place in Europe.

Leicester has been the surprise packet this season and sits second on the ladder behind Manchester City on goal difference.

The Midlands club struggled for a large part of last season but travels to Swansea City tonight as the form team of the competition.

Ranieri, who reached the Champions League with Chelsea, Juventus and Inter Milan, wants another crack at the competition or the Europa League at least.

"To play in Europe or the Champions League is fantastic and I want to help my players and my team to achieve this goal, but slowly," he said. "You have to be solid at the beginning and know each other very well and then we can go there."

Swansea City has a strong home record against Leicester, winning the past three clashes at Liberty Stadium.

The Swans' form, however, has not been good, having won only once in their past 10 league matches, losing six in that period.

The Foxes also have the form goalscorer in the league, with Jamie Vardy aiming for his 12th goal in as many matches after setting a new record of scoring in 11 straight league games with a goal in last week's 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Half the battle for Swansea will be preventing Leicester from scoring. The Foxes are the only team to have netted in every match this season.

Tonight's fixtures: Stoke v Man City, Arsenal v Sunderland, Man Utd v West Ham, Southampton v Aston Villa, Swansea v Leicester, Watford v Norwich, West Brom v Tottenham, Chelsea v Bournemouth
