Former IOC exective released from jail

OLYMPICS: Disgraced former International Olympic Committee executive Pat Hickey has been released from a Brazilian prison after his arrest in August as part of an investigation into an illegal ticket-scalping ring.

The former head of the Olympic Council of Ireland and the European Olympic Committee posted $599,000 in bail, from money believed to have been loaned to him by an umbrella body representing national Olympic committees.

The 71-year-old, who has also been given his passport back by judge Marcelo Rubioli, has maintained he is innocent of all charges levelled against him.
