TWO Bandidos involved in the notorious 2013 Broadbeach riot were schooled in Warwick.

Ryan John Mercer and Duncan Lee Rattenbury were among eight Bandidos whose sentence hearing began in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Mercer and Rattenbury were two of about 40 Bandidos involved in an incident outside a Broadbeach tapas bar on September 27, 2013 and have pleaded guilty to their involvement.

The court heard the Bandidos gathered in the Broadbeach mall on the Gold Coast to search for two Finks gang members.

All Bandidos were in gang colours except Jacques Teamo, the bikie shot in the 2012 Robina Town Centre shooting, who the court heard was the incident's "prime mover".

The group walked through the mall like "men on a mission" until about 20 Bandidos found Finks Matthew Sward  and Jason Trouchet in a tapas bar.

The two Finks took the confrontation outside and Trouchet punched Teamo. Police quickly broke up the fight but were forced to call for immediate back-up because of the number of Bandidos.

The court heard the bikies began threatening and swearing at the officers until police gained control of the situation. Mercer and Rattenbury were charged as being part of the group but police did not allege they attacked anyone.

Mercer spent 13 days in jail on the charges - longer than many co-accused facing more serious riot charges.

Defence barrister Patrick Wilson said Mercer and Rattenbury were both schooled in Warwick - although they have since moved.

Magistrate Michael Quinn will finish the sentencing on August 14 in Brisbane.
