Ipswich, south-east Queensland hit by storm
UPDATE: The Bureau of Meteorology has cancelled its storm warning for the Ipswich area.
A wind gust of 85km/h had been recorded at Amberley prior to the cancellation.
EARLIER: THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for south-east Queensland.
Large hail and damaging winds are predicted to hit Ipswich, Marburg shortly and Lowood, Fernvale and Mount Nebo by 6:05 pm.
Ipswich was hit by severe thunder and lightning around 5pm.
Large bolts of lightning could be seen from the centre of the city which was surrounded by a menacing cloud formation.

The BOM is advising motorists to move their cars under cover to prevent hail damage.
Residents are also being told to secure any outdoor items and avoid standing under trees.
