Here for the beers and the win
HERE For The Beers have been victorious at the Eidsvold Against Asthma 7a-side touch competition.
In an exhibition match to raise to funds asthma research, they were just too good for Can't Touch This (A), winning four tries to two.
Four teams competed against each other at this Family Fun Day event at Eidsvold Football Fields.
Sharaina Leha first created the organisation in honour of her brother Cordell Lister Fisher, who passed away from asthma five years ago.
"We originally ran this event in 2016, with plenty of the community wanting us to do it again soon,” said Ms Leha.
"Since it's been five years from my brother's passing, we thought we'd do something to honour him this year.”
Teams across from the region competed this year, with players coming from Gayndah, Mundubbera, Caboolture and Eidsvold.
Playing over several matches, Here For The Beers were victorious over The Wheezers, and Can't Touch This teams A and B.
Local businesses and those within the community all donated prizes and gift baskets for a multi-draw raffle running throughout the day.
Several fruit and vegetable baskets were on offer, with football bags, fuel vouchers, and more up for grabs.
Hosting their after party at the Star Hotel Eidsvold, local Lane West raffled off a didgeridoo he had made painted by local artist Duane Blucher.
Over $2000 has been raised so far, with all proceeds going to the Asthma Foundation.
