Highway progress for Cooroy to Curra Bruce Hwy upgrade

GYMPIE region motorists travelling south on the Bruce Hwy will have noticed this week the new alignment of Holts Rd was reopened as part of ongoing works on Section A of the Cooroy to Curra Bruce Hwy upgrade.

Traffic lights were removed on Monday and both lanes on the new section of Holts Rd reopened, Federal Member for Wide Bay and Minister for Infrastructure Warren Truss said.

"Motorists should experience a noticeable improvement driving on the new Holts Rd alignment, giving them an early indication of the high quality road to be delivered by the Cooroy to Curra Bruce Hwy project," Mr Truss said.

Work will continue on sections of road adjacent to Holts Rd from 6am-6pm, Monday to Friday.

"To ensure the safety of motorists and road workers during construction, traffic signals, traffic controllers, lane closures and speed restrictions will be used as required," Mr Truss said.

"While efforts will be made to minimise the impact of road works, I encourage motorists to consider adding some extra time to their journey to allow for any delays."
