THERE is no clear favourite going into tonight's grand final of The Hotplate

The reality cooking show's State of Origin-style showdown sees Brisbane restaurant owners Emi Kamada and Marie Yokoyama go up against Sydney's Vanessa and Aron Filetti.

The two teams are evenly matched, say hosts Scott Pickett and Tom Parker Bowles.

"They've been the top two teams at the end of each round.... they deserve their spots in the final," Pickett told the Today show this morning.

"It's going to be tight."

Bowles praised Brisbane's "samurai" chefs Marie and Emi for taking risks and being perfectionists.

But Aron and Vanessa's creme brulee tart is Pickett's favourite dish of the competition so far.

"We have an idea of who might win but who knows?" Bowles said.

"We've got used to have our expectations confounded at every turn."

Neither of the teams knows who has won as two alternate endings have been filmed, similar to My Kitchen Rules.

The Hotplate grand final airs tonight at 7.30pm on Channel 9/WIN.
