Hungry teen smashes Pizza Hut window in late night attack

Desperate for a late night feed, a 19-year-old has faced court for shattering the window of Pizza Hut Gympie after finding it was shut, before moving on to Hungry Jacks.

It was at 2am on January 10, when Kaiden Stewart James Warner got drunk and was walking around the streets of Gympie looking for a snack.

MORE COURT NEWS:

His first victim was Pizza Hut Gympie, where he tried to pull open the locked door a few times before kicking in one of the window panels and smashing the glass.

Police prosecutor Melissa Campbell told the court Warner then ran off to Hungry Jacks where he was found by police kicking the door and trying to get in.

"He was arrested at the time for public nuisance as police were unaware of the Pizza Hut matter," Ms Campbell said.

"He was identified via CCTV footage and when questioned later stated he really didn't remember much about the night."

Solicitor Chris Anderson said when he asked Warner how much he had to drink, the answer was "too much".

Warner is a single man who was previously a saw mill worker, and pleaded guilty to the charge of property damage in Gympie Magistrates Court.

Mr Anderson said his client wanted to contest the restitution payment of the second shattered glass panel, as the evidence only stated one had been damaged.

The total restitution was $2250 and the matter was adjourned to March 15 for case conferencing to occur.
