Improvement is name of the game
NETBALL: The Wide Bay Regional Netball Carnival was held on Sunday late last month with Mundubbera and Gayndah students in attendance.
Teams from Under 15, 13, 12 and 11 competed against other schools; however they were outclassed by the Bundaberg squad.
Mundubbera State School Netball coach Lisa Whelan said the entire event was a success with players showing mass improvement.
"It turned out to be a great day, some success for a few of the teams, and a lot of improvement to a lot of players over the course of the day,” Mrs Whelan said.
"This is the benefit of attending regionals. Lots of games and a different competition to challenge players. Great opportunity to develop as net ballers.”
Various associations were present during the Wide Bay Carnival.
"We had a good amount of competition in Hervey Bay, it seems to be getting bigger and bigger every year which is good,” Mrs Whelan said.
"Teams from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Kingaroy, Nanango and Monto were there.”
Mrs Whelan acknowledged the hard work and commitment shown by her Mundubbera Netball team.
"Our combined teams had a great time and the coaches and parents were all pleased with their team work and enthusiasm,” Mrs Whelan said.
"By the Gayndah and Mundubbera associations combined we are able to send more competitive teams to this carnival.”
The team will now be training hard in preparation for the next netball competition.
"We've got another carnival coming up which will be good for the students and they'll be training for that one,” Mrs Whelan said.
"It's a busy time for the students but it helps that they love the sport and we do as well.”
The Mundubbera Netball team is looking forward to the second carnival that will take place in Gayndah on July 30.
Teams from Bundaberg, Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Kingaroy, Monto, Gayndah and Mundubbera will be competing at this carnival.
