Jockey suspended over horse punch

JOCKEY Dylan Cabouche was suspended for two weeks after punching his mount behind the barriers before a race at Port Lincoln on Wednesday.

The South Australian hoop was charged by stewards with misconduct after he gave the Allan Jarvis-trained She's Reneldasgirl an uppercut to the ribs after she became fired up as the field was being loaded for race two.

Cabouche dismounted as an attendant grabbed the reins to calm the horse before the jockey let fly. She's Reneldasgirl finished eighth, beaten 14.4 lengths, in the 1390m maiden race.

Cabouche's suspension will run from midnight November 17 to December 1.
