Jury finds teen guilty of raping boy in Grantham

AN 18-year-old man will spend Christmas behind bars awaiting his sentencing after an Ipswich District Court jury found him guilty of raping a boy.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to two counts of rape and one count of indecent treatment of a child under 12 at the outset of a trial last week.
On the fifth day of the trial on Wednesday, a jury found him guilty of two counts of rape but acquitted him of one count of indecent treatment of a child under 12.
The court heard the offending happened at Grantham last year.
His bail was cancelled and he was remanded in custody until his sentencing in February.
