’Ka-bang’: Police investigate as car goes up in flames
Police are investigating after a car went up in flames on a quiet Dicky Beach street on Friday afternoon.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said one crew was called to the blaze on Coolum St about 12.30pm.
Police and paramedics were also called to the scene. One person was assessed for smoke inhalation but there were no injuries.
A neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said she heard an “explosion” and saw smoke billow from the driveway.
“I could smell plastic burning so I just left (my granddaughter) in the house, come out the gate and it went ka-bang. It went up in smoke.
She said it was a shocking event in a usually quiet and “loving” area.
