Kristin proud to represent her new home

MT Perry school teacher Kristin Carroll has lived in the North Burnett for two years and jumped at the chance to represent the township as Mt Perry Showgirl.

"I was approached about the role of being the showgirl by one of the parents at the school who is on the show committee," Miss Carroll said.

"It was definitely a bit of a shock, I thought they might have gone with a true local but it just shows that the town has welcomed me."

Miss Carroll grew up a city girl in Brisbane and was not sure what to expect when she took her country post in Mt Perry.

"It's a very welcoming community and although it isn't that big everyone here always pulls together to do a lot," Miss Carroll said.

"It's a lovely little town and I'm glad that as Showgirl I get to spread the word."

Miss Carroll also looks forward to her role at the Mt Perry Show on April 16.

"I will be walking around and presenting ribbons to the winners of some of the events and selling raffle tickets," Miss Carroll said.

"The show day will be about going around and meeting new people which I think is great."

Miss Carroll has been enjoying her experiences away from the city life and this is another chapter in that adventure.

"As a city girl it's good to meet country people who are always friendly," she said.

"I see it as broadening my horizons, it's very different out here being quiet and laid back but I really enjoy it."

Miss Carroll has been actively involved with community groups since she arrived in Mt Perry.

"I worked the pavilion at the show last year answering phones and in the photography section," Miss Carroll said.

"I just want to get involved as much as I can and immerse myself as much as possible," she said.
