Lions-All Blacks series ends in dramatic stalemate

THE All Blacks and the the British and Irish Lions have shared the spoils in their third and final Test in Auckland, leaving their series deadlocked at 1-1.

A 48m penalty to the Lions' Owen Farrell in the 77th minute pulled his side level at 15-15.

But the drama didn't end there with the All Blacks being awarded what could have been a series-winning penalty in the 79th minute, before the decision was overturned.

New Zealand won the first Test 30-15, with the Lions squaring it with a 24-21 triumph in the second Test.

All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said after the match: "I'm proud of what the boys have done, the Lions have played really well and deserve a lot of credit.

"We'll come out of this series and regroup and look forward to the Bledisloe.

"The series has been great for rugby. We've thoroughly enjoyed it, we've got a bit of work to do, but that's okay."

New Zealand's Ngani Laumape and Jordie Barrett scored the game's only tries, both in the first half, but the Lions grappled their way back through the boot of Farrell and Elliot Daly.

All Black Jerome Kaino was shown a 50th-minute yellow card for a dangerous high tackle.
