UPGRADES to the Dalby Showgrounds to enable the town to have a community centre is an election promise made by the Deputy Opposition leader yesterday.

Deb Frecklington was in Dalby yesterday afternoon to announce the $300,000 upgrade for the LNP.

Mrs Frecklington said the funding would go towards making the Knowles Pavilion at the Dalby Showgrounds a proper community centre.

"We are here today to support our country regions,” she said.

"We all know small towns just like Dalby really need support and what else they need is a community centre.

"While (Dalby) has a fantastic show pavilion, a future LNP government is really pleased to announce we'll invest $300,000 to partner with the council to do something more with this building so (Dalby) can have a real community centre.”

The main upgrade which was touted by Mrs Frecklington was air-conditioning, which she said would be highly beneficial especially in the warmer months.

"We know the formal season is almost upon us... and wouldn't this place look fantastic if it had air-conditioning and a little bit of an upgrade,” she said.

Member for Warrego, Ann Leahy, stated the upgrade would provide benefits for the entire region. "These improvements will ensure the showgrounds can be enjoyed for many generations to come,” she said. "Not only will this project bring social benefits to the community, it will provide local jobs.”
