Local runner's going places

ATHLETICS: Abigail Driver is a local track and cross country star.

Driver attends St Joseph's Primary in Gayndah and is 12 years old.

After proving herself as Wide Bay's best under-12 cross country runner, Driver competed at the state championships in Maroochydore in July.

She was the first Wide Bay runner home, completing the 3km course in 12min 16sec.

Driver also competed in the 800m event at the Wide Bay athletics trials in Gympie in August, winning a close race in 2min 44sec.

Driver also won the 1500m race in 5min 44sec and was selected to represent Wide Bay at the upcoming state championships in Cairns on October 20 and 21.

Driver would like to thank the community and volunteers for the support she has received, including donations.
