Logies fashions hit and miss affair

RED carpet fashion certainly gets its fair share of attention worldwide, and here in Australia we try to match it with the best of them when we hold our awards nights.

But our Logies still seem to have equal numbers of hit and misses, some celebs really nailing it, others failing miserably.

Shiny fabric never seems to work on anyone, especially under harsh spotlights and flashing cameras. But designers and their muses insist upon associating it with glamour as showcased at this year's ceremony on too many occasions.

Better options spotted included textured metallics or heavily sequinned fitted gowns which appeared much more flattering under the glare of lenses and critics.

Plunging necklines were still being rolled out despite looking a bit cliche, and see-thru fashion, another red carpet unfriendly invention, has had its time in the sun.

The current obsession with bigger is better when it comes to gowns, is also the quick route to fashion overkill and usually associated with those whose contribution to the talent pool is less voluminous than the frock they are sporting.

Red carpet winners this year include Marta Dusseldorp for rocking floral, Julia Morris as this year's lady in red, Madeleine Madden for her sleek, bronze glomesh number and Lee Lin Chin for wearing whatever she wants with unflinching brilliance.
