A PENSIONER, who had been living in a housing commission property, is searching for a new home after winning $1 million in the Gold Lotto draw.

The grandmother has been a regular at the Nextra Mooloolaba newsagency, coming in most days for her paper and a little dabble at Lotto.

Newsagency owner Andrew Bourne said when the woman walked in yesterday morning, he joked: "Did you win last night?"

She already suspected she had after seeing her lucky numbers come up in the draw on TV the night before.

What would you do if you won millions on Lotto?

So he took her to the back of the newsagency to check the numbers - and confirmed she had become a millionaire.

"She was in quite a bit of shock and was a little bit speechless," Mr Bourne said.

The woman told Mr Bourne she couldn't believe the win - and didn't think her husband would either.

"Lucky I'm sitting down," she said.

"I can't believe this - it is absolutely out of this world. I can't wait until I can tell my husband, but I don't think he will believe me."

The woman always used the same numbers when buying her Gold Lotto tickets - they were her family's birthday numbers.

She had an inkling Wednesday may be her lucky night.

"I often play Wednesday Gold Lotto, but I had just had this feeling about this draw," she said.

"I can't explain it. I just wanted to get a ticket into the draw so I could use my regular numbers, which are family birthday numbers.

"The first-division win means we'll be able to buy our own home and we'll be able to help out some family."

Throughout Australia, four entries won a first-division prize in Wednesday Gold Lotto Draw 3485.

This draw offered a guaranteed division-one prize of $1 million for up to four winners.

Along with the winning entry from Mooloolaba, one came from Coolangatta and a further two winning entries were sold in New South Wales.

The local pensioner's winning numbers were 27, 31, 23, 16, 1 and 6 with the supplementary numbers of 37 and 11.

This wasn't the first time Mr Bourne's newsagency had struck gold in Gold Lotto.

"We sold another winning ticket three or four years ago which was worth $1.4 million," he said. "It was also to a local person, but he remained anonymous.

"We didn't get to meet him.

"We are glad this one was won by someone we know.

"She is a very nice, lovely lady. I see her almost every day."
