Man allegedly produced knife in early morning altercation

POLICE are seeking assistance from the public after a report was received of an altercation which occurred at a busy intersection involving a knife.

It's alleged about 2.10am today a male motorist was travelling through the intersection of Shakespeare Street and Milton Street when a nearby male pedestrian has approached his vehicle and struck it hard, causing damage to the petrol cap.

The motorist performed a U-turn and parked his vehicle nearby, calling out to the pedestrian and stepped out of his vehicle.

The pedestrian has responded by walking towards the motorist and producing a knife in his right hand.

The motorist returned to his vehicle quickly and drove away, watching the pedestrian walk down Shakespeare Street and turn right onto Jubilee Street.

The pedestrian is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 180 centimetres tall, solid build, between 20 and 30 years of age, clean shaven, brown hair.

He was wearing a long sleeved black and checked button up shirt, black jeans and runners.
