Bail for man accused of strangling partner in violent attack
UPDATE: A man charged with allegedly bashing his partner in a sustained attack has appeared in court.
Caine Aaron Zagami, 20, was charged on Wednesday with with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of torture.
Police will allege Mr Zagami assaulted his partner, 19, and attempted to choke her on three occasions as well as threatening her with a knife in the violent attack at an address in Bremer Street, Churchill.
He is also accused of attempting to strangle her.
Mr Zagami appeared on Thursday in Ipswich Magistrates Court after spending the night in the watchhouse.
His legal representative applied for bail on his behalf which Magistrate Virginia Sturgess granted albeit under a host of strict conditions.
Those conditions include he stay away from his alleged victim, he not enter or reside at the Bremer St address and reside with his parents in Leichhardt.
Other conditions include he not leave the Leichhardt address unless in the company of both his parents except if he is going to work.
The matter will return to court on May 4.

EARLIER: Police have charged a 20-year-old man after investigations into an incident in the Ipswich suburb of Churchill yesterday afternoon.
It is alleged the man assaulted a 19-year-old woman by attempting to choke her on three occasions as well as threatening her with a knife and attempting to strangle her at a residence in Bremer Street.
Police were called to the residence and took the man into custody.
A 20-year-old man was later charged with three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of torture and contravention of a domestic violence order.
He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
