Man in good spirits after being pinned by Model T Ford

UPDATE

A FIRE engine red model T Ford caused a commotion this morning at G and T Auto when it slipped off a hoist injuring an employee.

Business owner Tracy Olive said a customer had brought the antique car in for a safety certificate at about 7.30am when the accident occurred.

"The older style vehicles operate differently to modem cars and with the push peddles it jumped over the hoist by mistake," Mrs Olive said.

"This caused one of our employees, Hayden, to become momentarily pinned by the wind-up handle at the front of the old car."

Mrs Olive said the 21-year-old was only pinned for seconds, workmates were able to free him straight away.

"He was taken to hospital and required stiches before being discharged," she said.

"Hayden was in good spirits and will take the rest of the week off."

She said the owner of the Model T was in his 60's had owned the car for 40 years.

He had worked on it for the past 20 and it was the first time it was out of his private workshop.

"He was pretty distraught by what had happened," Mrs Olive said.

"We are just glad it was not too serious and after a cup of tea everyone's nerves were settled.

"The car passed its safety certificate and the owner was able to take it home without a scratch on it."

Mrs Olive said Queensland Workplace Health and Safety was called as a precaution and everything was now back to work as normal.
