Roof attacker punches man to ground

A MAN has been punched to the ground after being threatened with a knife during an armed robbery at a popular Gold Coast shopping complex overnight.

The male staff member, aged in his 30s, was working at a fast food store at Harbour Town overnight when he and another employee accosted a man found on the roof of the shop.

The two employees told the man to get off the roof before three men came down and confronted them.

The men demanded one staff member hand over a mobile phone, but the staff member refused.

A police spokesman said a knife was produced and used to threatened the victim before he was punched to the ground.

The man received facial injuries during the attack.

He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition by paramedics.

Police are continuing to investigate.
