Man pushed to ground, punched and kicked in pre-dawn attack

AN ATTACK before dawn this morning has left a 28-year-old in hospital after he was pushed to the ground and struck repeatedly in the face and skull.

Police believe two men became involved in a verbal argument outside a kebab shop on George St in Brisbane's CBD, between Elizabeth St and the Queens Street Mall.

Paramedics treated the man for cuts to his head, and a nose injury before he was taken to hospital.

A 23-year-old Spring Hill man was arrested. On top of being banned from the Brisbane nightspots, he will also be charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and obstructing police.

The danger of Brisbane's entertainment precincts were brought into sharp focus earlier this year when Sunshine Coast teenager Cole Miller was fatally attacked in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley.

He was allegedly set upon by a man who said to his friends, "Want to see something funny?" before striking the teenager.
